Accomplishing Something Special

Kelly AdamsAfter only two years of playing tennis, who would have thought that Renaissance House, Inc. client Kelly Adams would have won a gold medal in singles competition at the recent Special Olympics held in Columbus, Ohio? Not even Kelly herself ever dreamed of her success on the court and would soon find out her success didn’t stop in Columbus.

After winning her gold medal in Columbus, Kelly’s tennis coach Jeff McDaniels soon informed her that she had qualified to play for Team Ohio at the National Special Olympics in Iowa. In Iowa, Kelly teamed with her partner Jenny (who by the way was the person she beat in Columbus to win her gold medal) to place third in doubles competition. Kelly also placed fourth in single competition in Iowa.

Kelly said “I wasn’t even thinking about placing at nationals. I was just happy to have the opportunity to play tennis again and make new friends”.

Congratulations and way to go Kelly.
