If you have experience in the DD field, great! If not, we will provide a comprehensive training program. We understand that staff development is critical to effective service delivery. Intensive initial and continuous training is provided to build competency and leadership abilities of direct care staff members.

Initial training includes 24 hours of training regarding client rights, emergency procedures, medication administration, Renaissance House, Inc. policies and procedures, consumer funds management and individual needs assessments.

Ongoing (continuous) training includes participation in training on personal futures planning, design for accomplishment, relationship building, creating a home, behavior management, social roles, and PASSING (Program Analysis of Service Systems' Implementation of Normalization Goals). Teamwork and collegian relations are promoted between all levels of the work force.

Knowledge about the particular needs of individuals being served is gained from on-the-job experience. Once here, many of our employees choose to stay. A total of 27 employees have five or more years of experience working for Renaissance House, Inc. The executive director, Robert Weinhardt, has 26 years experience with the organization. Renaissance House, Inc. believes in promoting from within. Most management staff started with the organization as direct care providers.
